Lamar Odom Officially Signs With New York Knicks for Remainder of NBA Season

Lamar Odom is in a New York state of mind. As rumored earlier this week, the athlete, 34, signed a deal with the New York Knicks to join the team for the remainder of the NBA season, Knicks president Phil Jackson announced on Wednesday, April 16.
The remainder of the season amounts to just one game for the Knicks, an 8:00 matchup with the Toronto Raptors on Wednesday night. Odom previously played for Jackson as a member of his Los Angeles Lakers championship teams in 2009 and 2010.
Khloe Kardashian's estranged husband has not played with an NBA team since the 2012-2013 season. After becoming a free agent last July, he left the Los Angeles Clippers and signed with Spanish team Laboral Kutxa. A month after joining the club, however, he returned to the U.S. with a back injury and terminated his contract.
"I'm very grateful for the understanding," Odom said in a taped interview with a team rep at the time. "Not only the people of the Baskonia basketball organization, but the people who've shown an appreciation for me and not just a basketball player. It goes so far from beyond the basketball court. I would like to thank you for the continued support."
"This is something that is beyond my control," he continued. "There's a difference between a part of your body that's hurt and a part of your body that's injured. It's up to me as a responsible athlete to -- if I'm injured -- to take care of it. I think everything happens for a reason," he added. "Now I have a home away from home all the time. There's a place I will always look forward to come back to and I look forward to getting on the court as soon as possible."
