Another passenger boat capsizes in Lagos, one missing

A passenger boat carrying ten passengers capsized in the afternoon of Monday June 16th in Lagos. According to passengers on the boat, which was heading to Coconot Island from Tincan Island, waves from bigger boats passing around them at the time caused the boat to lose balance and capsize.

And despite the fact that all the passengers were wearing life jackets, one person drowned and his life jacket was seen floating around. Other passengers were rescued. The body of the missing person is yet to be recovered.

This incident occurred barely a month after another passenger boat capsized around the Bonny Camp bridge in VI, killing 25 year old LIB reader, Claire-belle Udodirim Edozie .

You see the life jackets they give on boats...they need to do something about it. I wore one one time and I knew without any doubt that if there was a mishap, it wouldn't save me. Since then I vowed never to enter any passenger boat in this obodo Nigeria. I can't swim so I can't shout!
